Walking on the road to Jerusalem,

The time had come to sacrifice again,

My two small sons,

They walk beside me on the road,
The reason that they came
was to watch the lamb.
Daddy, daddy,
(예루살렘으로 가는길을 걷습니다)
(시간은 거슬러 희생(예수님이 십자가를 지신)의 때로 되돌아가고)
(저의 두 어린 아들들,)
(그들은 제 옆에서 길을 따라 걷습니다)
(그들이 이곳에 온 이유는)
(어린양들을 보기 위해서 였지요.)
(아빠, 아빠)

What will see there,

There's so much that we don't understand,
So I told them of Moses
and father Abraham,
Then I said dear children watch the lamb

There will be so many in Jerusalem today,
(거기서 무엇을 보게될런지)
(우리가 이해하지 못할것들이 너무도 많을 겁니다)
(그래서 저는 아들들에게 모세에관하여 이야기해 주었지요.)
(그리고 아버지 아브라함에대해서도요)
(그리고는 저는 저의 사랑스런 아이들에게 어린양들을 보라고 일렀습니다)
(오늘 예루살렘에 가면 많이 있을것입니다)

We must be sure the lamb doesn't run away,

And I told them of Moses

and father Abraham,

Then I said dear children watch the lamb.

When we reached the city,
(우리는 양이 도망가지 못하도록 해야합니다)
(그러고는 저는 아리들에게 모세이야기를 들려주었습니다)
(그리고 아버지 아브라함의 이야기두요)
(그리고나서 저는 아이들에게 양을 지켜보라고 일렀지요)
(우리가 도시에 도착했을때)

I knew something must be wrong,

There were no joyful worshipers,

No joyful worship songs,

I stood there with my children

in the midst of angry men,

Then I heard the crowd cry out
(뭔가가 잘못되었다는걸 알게되었습니다)
(기쁨에찬 참배자들이 하나도 없었지요)
(기쁜 찬송의 노래들도,)
(저는 아이들과 거기 서있었습니다.)
(분노한 사람들 한복판에서,)
(저는 군중들의 울부짖음(외침)을 들었습니다)

Crucify Him.

We tried to leave the city

but we could not get away,

Forced to play in this drama

a part I did not wish to play,

Why upon this day
(그를 십자가에 못박아라)
(우리는 그 도시를 떠나려 했습니다)
(그러나 우린 벗어날수 없었습니다)
(이드라마에서 강제로 연기하도록 종용받았습니다)
(제가 원치 않았던 배역을 말이지요,)
(왜 이날)

were men condemned to die,

Why were we standing here,

Where soon they would pass by.

I looked and said, even now they come,

The first one cried for mercy,
(사람들은 사형을 언도 받았을까요)
(왜 우리들은 여기 서있었을까요,)
(그들은 곧 어디를 지나게 될까요)
(저는 보고 말햇습니다, 심지어 지금도 그들은 온답니다,)
(첫번째 사람은 울며 자비를 구했습니다.)

The people gave him none,

The second one was violent,

He was arrogant and loud,

I still hear his angry voice

screaming at the crowd,

(사람들은 그에게 전혀 자비를 베풀지않았죠)
(두번째 사람은 거칠었습니다)
(그는 오만하고 시끄러웠습니다)
(저는 아직도 들립니다. 사람들한테 비명지르는)
(그의 목소리가,)

Then someone said there's Jesus,

I scarce believed my eyes,
A man so badly beaten,
He barely looked alive,
Blood poured from His body,
(그리고는 누군가가 예수가 온다고 말했습니다)
(저는 제 두 눈을 믿기가 두려웠습니다)
(심하게 매맞은 한 남자,)
(그는 겨우 숨이 붙어있는것 같아보였습니다)
(피가 그의 몸에서 쏟아져 나왔습니다)

From the forms upon His brow,

Running down the cross,
Falling to the ground.
I watched Him as He struggled,
I watched Him as He fell,
(그의 이마의 상처들로 부터,)
(십자가를 보면서)
(바닥에 쓰러집니다)
(그가 사투하는것을 나는 지켜보았습니다)
(저는 그가 넘어지는것을 보았습니다)

The cross came down upon His back,

The crowd began to yell,
In that moment I felt such agony,
In that moment I felt such loss,
Till a Roman soldier grabbed my arm
and screamed, you, carry His cross.
At first I tried to resist him,
(십자가가 그의 등에 내려지고,)
(군중들은 고함치기 시작했습니다.)
(그 순간 저는 그토록 심한 고통을 느꼈습니다)
(그때 그순간 저는 그토록 상실감을 느꼈습니다)
(로마병사 한명이 저의 팔을 붙잡고는)
('너, 그의 십자가를 옮겨라'라고 제게 소리쳤을때까지요)
(처음에 저는 저항해(거부해) 보려고 노력했습니다)

Then his hand reached for his cross,

So I knelt and took the cross from the Lord,
I placed it on my shoulder,And started down the street,
The blood that he'd been shedding
was running down my cheek.
They led us to Golgotha
(그러고는 그의 손이 그의 십자가에 닿았습니다, )
(그래서 저는 무릎꿇고서 주의 십자가를 붙잡았습니다)
(저는 그것을 제 어깨위에 매었지요 그리고서 거리를 내려가기 시작했습니다)
(그가 흘리고 있었던 선혈이)
(저의 뺨을 타고 흘러내렸습니다)
(그들은 저희들을 골고다(언덕)로 이끌었습니다)

 

They drove nails deep in His feet and hands,
Yet upon the cross I heard Him pray
Father, forgive them.
Oh, never have I seen such love
in any other eyes,
Into thy hands I commit my spirit
(그들은 대못을 그의 발과 손에 깊히 박아넣었습니다)
(아직 십자가위에 계실때 저는 그분의 기도를 들었습니다)
(아버지, 그들을 용서하소서)
(오, 저는 그러한 사랑은 결코 들어보지 못했습니다.)
(그 누구의 눈에서도,)
(저는 주의 손에 저의 영혼을 맡겼습니다)

He prayed and the He died,

I stood for what seemed like years,
I'd lost all sense of time
until I felt to tiny hands
holding tight to mine,
The children stood there weeping,
I heard the oldest say,
(그는 기도했고 운명하셨습니다)
(마치 몇년동안 그랬었다는듯이 저는 그대로 서있었답니다)
(저는 시간에대한 모든 감각을 잃어버렸지요)
(작은 손들을 느끼게되기 전 까지요)
(저의 손을 꼭 붙잡은,)
(아이들은 거기서서 울먹였습니다)
(저는 가장 오래된 말을 들을수 있었답니다)

Father please forgive us,

the lamb ran away.
Daddy, daddy,
What have we seen here,
There's so much that we don't understand,
So I took them in my arms
And we turned and faced the cross,
Then I said dear children
watch the lamb,
(아버지 제발 저희를 용서해주소서,)
(양은 도망가버렸습니다)
(아빠, 아빠)
(우리가 여기서 보았던것은,)
(아주 많았습니다 우리가 이해하지 못한것들이 말이죠)
(그래서 저는 그들을 팔에 안았습니다)
(그리고 우리는 돌아서서 십자가를 마주했죠, )
(그러고는 제가 사랑스런 아이들에게 말했습니다)
(양을 보라고.)
